Sundance 55+ Adult Village

For those seeking a budget friendly golf retirement community, this is a great option. Although smaller in scale, Sundance still offers everything you need for a fun and active retirement, and lots of ways to meet friends and neighbors.

The Sundance Golf Course is also one of the most inexpensive full-length courses in the entire Phoenix area, yet still offers a nice playable course that is usually in good condition.

Overview

Located in the town of Buckeye Arizona, the 55+ golf retirement community of Sundance Active Adult takes a simpler approach to active-adult retirement. With only about 1,100 homes, it is much smaller than the huge Sun City developments of 8,000 – 40,000 residents that have typically characterized active-adult housing in the West Valley.

Sundance Active Adult, is located within the 2,000-acre master planned development of Sundance that contains subdivisions designed for all ages by several different builders. The homes in the age-restricted 55+ community are all located in a “loop” that surrounds the Sundance golf course, so residents are never too far from the golf course or the Active Adult clubhouse.

Only residents of the age-restricted, 55+ Active Adult “loop” have access to the Active Adult clubhouse.


Sundance 55+ Community, Real Estate

Most homes in the 55+ active adult community were built by Meritage Homes (previously Hancock Homes) between 2002 – 2014. LGI Homes of Arizona finished the last 151 lots between 2015 – 2020. For the most part, Meritage offered very basic builder-grade finishes as standard, especially in the earlier phases, so any upgrades you see in a home were probably an up-charge for the buyer, or added after market.

Overall, the homes are thoughtfully designed floorplans ranging from 1,000 – 2,217 SF, and in the later phases, included some great energy efficient systems that Meritage added to all of their homes, which really help reduce energy costs.


About the Buckeye Area

Buckeye is the farthest town west in Maricopa County (Phoenix), and actually has a geographic area larger than the city of Phoenix. Until about 2000, it was a sleepy little rural farm town of about 30,000, but explosive growth is expected to continue well into the first half of this century, possibly exceeding the total population of the city of Phoenix with over 3.5 million residents.

Sundance is located in the Southern portion of Buckeye, just south of Interstate 10, which runs east-west from Phoenix to Los Angeles. It’s actually only about about a 30 minute drive (without traffic) to get to downtown Phoenix, and only about 10-12 minutes to Goodyear’s beautiful master planned community of Palm Valley, where you’ll find all of your favorite restaurants, stores, movies, and more.

Within just a couple blocks of Sundance, there is also explosive commercial growth. The 2-min video has more information on what’s available right within the Sundance area. The video was created a couple years ago, so virtually all of the commercial space they show as available is now built up.
